Technics has become the official International partner supporting Red Bull BC One breakdance events around the world.

July 31, 2020 - Since its inception, the Technics brand has made it a mission to contribute to the enrichment of music culture around the world and has supported artists and music events while innovating and manufacturing its products. As part of our global strategy, we have signed an official global partnership with the biggest breakdance competition in the world, Red Bull BC One.

We're kicking off the collaboration with the launch of an online breakdance (or ‘breaking', as it's referred to in the scene) competition, Red Bull BC One E-Battle. Founded in 2018, Red Bull BC One E-Battle gives anyone, anywhere a fighting chance to participate in the Red Bull BC One World Final. Hosted on www.redbullbcone.com, b-boys and b-girls from all over the world can upload their breaking videos and participate in an online battle, judged by some of the most credible names in the breaking scene. Applications for Red Bull BC One E-Battle will open on August 7, with an online World Final set for late October. The winners of both the b-boys and b-girls categories will receive an SL-1200MK7 (SL-1210MK7) as a prize.

In 2021, Technics will support international events across 10 markets until the Red Bull BC One World Final in November 2021. As part of the agreement, Red Bull BC One and Technics will be releasing exclusive content, online competitions and both digital and on-site activations to drive fan engagement.

History of Breakdance and DJ Music
Dance and DJ music culture are deeply intertwined, and their history goes back to the birth of the DJ movement. In 1970, a legendary DJ took two Technics Turntables outdoors and invented a performance called breakbeat, which would essentially sample the same portion of the record on two separate turntables and then mixed together simultaneously creating a new track. This rapidly became a phenomenon, and a new musical and cultural movement was born between hip hop and breakdance. Breakdancing is currently one of the biggest dance categories in the world and is gaining popularity following its provisional approval for inclusion in the Paris 2024 Olympic sports programme.

The Technics SL-1200 series is still a favourite amongst DJs around the world, whether playing EDM, Trance, House, Techno or Breaks - their versatility shines through for every genre. Technics will provide the latest SL-1200MK7/SL-1210MK7 Direct Drive Turntables and EAH-DJ1200 DJ Headphones to support DJ's playing at Red Bull BC One events around the world. Technics strives to contribute to the enrichment of both DJ and dance culture through this collaboration with Red Bull BC One, which was delivered by London-based sports and entertainment consultancy Right Formula.
