Electric Bass with Retro Design and Updated Construction

The Orange O Bass is a passive electric bass with a 34" scale length, combining classic design inspiration with several modern upgrades. This new version offers improved playability, an updated pickup, and refined material choices for balanced weight and durable construction.

Retro Design with Modern Refinements

The original 2015 model has been enhanced with a range of updates. The body is made of West African okoumé for reduced weight and balanced feel, whether standing or seated. The fingerboard is now crafted from the highly durable purpleheart wood, improving stability and long-term durability.

Neck and Playability

The neck profile has been reshaped for better ergonomics, and the fretwork has been retooled to make shifting positions and upper-register playing more natural and fluid.

Custom Pickup Position

The custom-designed split-coil humbucker is placed closer to the neck than on traditional models. This placement, inspired by modifications observed by technical director Adrian Emsley in 1990s Los Angeles, results in a deeper, warmer tone with enhanced low-mid response.

Flexible Tonal Range

The bass responds clearly to playing dynamics: lighter touch produces tones suitable for soul and RnB, while heavier playing adds more attack and harmonic content. Rolling off the tone control reveals smoother sounds ideal for dub and laid-back reggae.

Designed in London

The O Bass was created by Adrian Emsley in the heart of London’s West End. Drawing from his time working with bassists in LA, Emsley set out to design a lightweight, long-scale bass with a classic tonal foundation.
