EarthQuaker Devices Hummingbird V4
Analog tremolo with sawtooth modulation
Tremolo Based on Vintage Circuits
The Hummingbird V4 is an analog tremolo inspired by classic "repeat percussion" units found in old Valco and Vox amplifiers. It produces a sawtooth-shaped tremolo that ranges from 1950s-style rhythmic pulses to fast, near ring-modulated amplitude chops.
Tremolo Modes and Controls
- Three Modes – Choose between slow (mode 1), medium (mode 2), or fast (mode 3) modulation rates.
- Rate – Sets the tremolo speed and is also expression pedal compatible.
- Depth – Adjusts the modulation intensity, from subtle pulses to full-on stutter.
- Level – Controls the output volume and allows both signal boost and cut. With Depth set to zero, the Hummingbird functions as a JFET clean boost.
Expression Pedal and Modulation Options
An expression pedal input provides real-time control of the modulation rate and opens up the possibility for random amplitude variations.
