Ibanez SR505E-BAB – 5-String Electric Bass

The SR505E-BAB is a 5-string electric bass from Ibanez’s standard series, featuring a design that combines lightweight bodies with playability and versatility. The SR series has been available for over 35 years, characterized by slim, easy-to-play bodies suited for extended playing sessions.

Construction and Materials

The body is made of Okoume, while the neck is a 5-piece Jatoba/Walnut construction. The fingerboard is Jatoba with oval Abalone inlays and 24 medium frets. The neck has a 864 mm (34") scale length and a 305 mm radius, with thickness increasing gradually from the first to the twelfth fret.

Electronics and Controls

The bass is equipped with Bartolini BH2 pickups in both neck and bridge positions. The Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ is calibrated for these pickups and includes an EQ bypass switch, passive treble control, and an adjustable midrange with a 3-way selector. There is also a master volume control and pickup balance.

Bridge and Hardware

The bass features an Ibanez Accu-cast B505 bridge with a 16.5 mm string spacing, adjustable for each string individually. The hardware is matte black.
