Ferrofish PULSE16 AE – 16-channel AD/DA converter with ESS conversion and ADAT

The Ferrofish PULSE16 AE is a compact and versatile AD/DA converter designed for studio and live environments. With 16 balanced analogue inputs and 16 balanced analogue outputs, it provides high-resolution signal conversion up to 32-bit / 192 kHz. Its fanless construction and 19" 1U format make it suitable for both fixed installations and mobile rack systems.

ESS DAC and ADC – high-resolution conversion

The PULSE16 AE features an ESS ES9017 DAC and ESS ES9840Q ADC. It supports 32-bit resolution and sample rates up to 192 kHz for precise and transparent audio conversion in professional setups.

Dual colour displays for full overview

Two front-panel colour displays provide real-time level metering and settings overview across all channels, simplifying monitoring and configuration directly on the unit.

Flexible routing and expansion

Single-channel routing is supported, and the unit can be expanded with an optional DSP stick. Via USB-C, it works with RemoteFish and supports MIDI controller commands for deeper integration into complex workflows.

Digital connectivity and clocking

The PULSE16 AE includes 4× ADAT inputs and 4× ADAT outputs for digital expansion. Word Clock input and output (BNC) enable accurate synchronisation in larger systems. A dedicated switch for active jitter reduction helps maintain stable digital clocking.

Built for professional operation

The fanless design ensures silent operation in recording environments. An external power supply unit is included. The unit fits a standard 19" / 1U rack format.
