Bass Preamp with Distortion and Cabinet Emulation for Stage, Studio, and Headphones

The Darkglass Alpha·Omega Ultra is a combined bass preamp, distortion pedal, and cabinet emulator equipped with extensive tone-shaping features. It includes two separate distortion circuits, a six-band active EQ, and multiple output options with digital cabinet emulation for direct connection to mixers, audio interfaces, or headphones.

Two Distortion Modes

The pedal features two distinct distortion circuits – Alpha and Omega – offering different tonal characteristics. The Mod control lets you select which circuit is active.

• Alpha delivers a more controlled and focused distortion
• Omega provides a more open and raw tone

The Blend knob mixes the dry and processed signals, while Drive and Level control the gain and output volume of the distortion.

EQ and Tone Shaping

A six-band graphic EQ with frequencies at 80 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1.5 kHz, 3 kHz, and 5 kHz allows precise tone adjustments. The pedal also includes two switches:

• Growl – enhances low-end saturation
• Bite – boosts upper midrange presence

Master controls the overall output volume for the DI and headphone outputs (does not affect bypass mode).

Cabinet Emulation and Software Support

The pedal includes digital cabinet emulation via impulse responses (IR), providing cabinet-like sound through the DI and headphone outputs. Using the Darkglass Suite software, you can:

• Load custom or third-party IRs into five memory slots
• Adjust headphone volume
• Blend clean and distorted signals within the cabinet emulation

Connectivity and Build

Outputs include a balanced XLR with ground lift, a dedicated headphone out, and a standard 1/4" jack. The pedal runs on 9V DC power and has a robust metal chassis suitable for both live and studio environments.
