The Hizumitas Fuzz Sustainar by EarthQuaker Devices is a fuzz pedal that delivers a wide spectrum of distortion tones – from smooth overdrive to harsh, broken textures. Developed in collaboration with guitarist Wata from the Japanese band Boris, it is based on the classic Elk BM Sustainar pedal.

Flexible tone shaping

The pedal features three controls – Sustain, Tone, and Level – allowing you to adjust both character and intensity. The Tone knob affects both treble and bass, while Sustain increases gain and compression. These parameters give you the ability to create organic, dynamic fuzz suited for anything from ambient layers to heavy riffs.

Built for stage and studio

Hizumitas features true bypass switching and runs on standard 9V DC power. It is optimized to maintain clarity at high gain levels without sacrificing low-end response. The circuit handles both single coil and humbucking pickups and responds well to fast picking without cutting off sustain.
