Fuzz Pedal – JHS Pedals Firefly Fuzz

The JHS Firefly Fuzz is a fuzz pedal with flexible tone shaping and adjustable controls that provide a wide range of sonic expressions. It is suitable for everything from subtle boost effects to heavy fuzz and is used both in studio and live settings.

Tone Shaping with Four Controls

The pedal features four knobs: Volume, EQ, Fuzz, and Bias. With the Fuzz knob turned all the way down, the Firefly acts as a clean boost, allowing the volume control to increase the signal without adding distortion. Increasing the Fuzz expands the sound from smooth tones to heavier and more driven sounds.

The EQ control acts as a high-cut filter to reduce treble frequencies, creating a warmer and rounder tone. The Bias control adjusts the voltage supplied to the pedal’s germanium transistors (AC128), altering the character. Turning it to the right delivers a more defined sustain, while turning it left produces a dirtier and grittier sound.

Construction and Components

The Firefly is hand-built in the USA with carefully selected components. The pedal is housed in a compact metal chassis and features a white LED indicator and true bypass, ensuring the signal remains unaffected when the effect is off.
