From clean signal to raw distortion

With the VHD+ Pre you get a versatile preamp stage where you control the degree and type of coloration. By increasing the input level, the so-called Variable Harmonic Drive mode is activated, which adds second- or third-order harmonics – or a combination – to your signal. The result ranges from subtle warmth to heavily overdriven transistor-like character.

At lower gain levels, the module adds a gentle warmth with tube-inspired sound or a slight transistor-like sharpness. When you increase the gain level, the distortion intensifies, which gives a heavily colored and broken sound image that is suitable for more experimental soundscapes, for example.

Studio-grade with high flexibility

The module is built according to SSL's SuperAnalogue standard, which ensures high sound quality regardless of the settings. You get access to classic SSL-like performance, but with the ability to shape the sound to your needs - from clinically clean to rough and aggressive. The VHD+ Pre offers a range of features that make it useful in everything from traditional studio setups to creative production environments.
