Focusrite Octopre Platinum

The Platinum OctoPre offers eight high-quality microphone channels with Focusrite's classic Class A amplifier and built-in compression.

The unit can be connected directly to a digital audio workstation (DAW) via eight analog outputs, or via one of two selectable A/D converter cards with support for 24-bit/96 kHz (see below for more information). OctoPre combines Focusrite's well-known sound quality with a price that makes it accessible to more people.

Each channel has an innovative compressor/limiter function that provides a warm and smooth sound when compressed, but which also acts as a powerful limiter to avoid unwanted peaks.

The first two channels – called "super channels" – have phase inverters and instrument inputs on the front panel, making it easy to connect, for example, guitar or bass directly, without having to use a DI box.

OctoPre comes with eight balanced line inputs and outputs (+4 dBu) via 25-pin D-sub connectors. With a separate breakout cable, these can be easily connected to XLR. In addition to the analog outputs, OctoPre can also be equipped with one of two digital expansion cards: an ADAT card for 24-bit/96 kHz, or a combined AES/SPDIF/ADAT card with the same resolution.
